Rasel M. Rana, D.O.

Dr. Rana is a board certified orthopedic surgeon with advanced fellowship training in spine surgery. He completed spine surgery fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he was intimately involved in the care of complex spine surgical patients from around the world.
He specializes in spinal disorders and provides comprehensive patient care including non-operative, interventional and surgical treatments of spine. His clinical interests include minimally invasive spine surgery, cervical spine pathology and spine deformity surgery.
Dr. Rana graduated from Brooklyn College with Magna Cum Laude. He attended medical school at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. He then completed an orthopedic surgery residency with extensive training in sports medicine, hip /knee replacement, hand surgery and orthopedic trauma surgery. Dr. Rana holds academic appointment of clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the Stony Brook University School of Medicine. He has a Master’s degree in Medical Education and is currently involved in teaching medical students and residents.
Prior to joining Long Island Bone and Joint, Dr. Rana was the Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at McDonald Army Health Center. During his tenure as an Army Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Rana provided comprehensive orthopedic care for the soldiers, their family members and the veterans. He received the “Army Commendation Medal” for his dedicated medical care during “Operation Enduring Freedom”. He brings the philosophy of service while caring for his patients.
He is a member of Society of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery, North American Spine Society, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
